Feasibility Study and Bankable Document
Leonor, Chile
Roberts & Schaefer provided a bankable feasibility study
for a copper project located in Northern Chile's Atacama District,
which is remote, arid, and lacking nearby infrastructure. The
project included preparation of complete flowsheets, mass balances,
equipment lists, general arrangements, and P&IDs.
After
consultants completed a geological resource model based on logs
of exploratory drilling and developed a mining plan, R&S began
the study by creating conceptual flowsheets. After determining
that some ore types would be difficult to leach, R&S recommended
additional metallurgical testing. R&S then developed and supervised
a metallurgical test program, which included supervising sample
collection.
R&S developed a process that increased recovery by 10 to
20 percent over conventional techniques. Designs were sufficient
for production of 30,000 tons of cathode copper per year.
