Laurel Run Mining Company
Overland Conveyor
Mt. Storm, West Virginia
Roberts & Schaefer provided complete project management,
detailed engineering, procurement, and construction services,
to construct an overland conveyor under a turnkey contract from
the Laurel Run Mining Company.
The conveyor traverses relatively level terrain. It moves 2 inch
X 0 coal from a breaker station about 7,200 feet to storage silos.
The 36-inch wide belt can carry 600 TPH and moves at 630 FPM.
The belt is driven by a 450 HP motor, and has a 100 HP creep-drive
motor. The return run includes a belt turn-over. The entire conveyor,
including the walkway, is enclosed in a Cor-Ten®
tube, supported on steel stringers.
