In-pit Crushing and Conveying System

 For
Ash Grove Cement Company, Roberts & Schaefer designed and
built a 1,200 TPH in-pit crushing and conveying system to eliminate
the use of trucks at the Leamington, Utah facility.
While not truly mobile, the in-pit crusher is moveable, and can
be relocated within a 20-hour window. The system includes grasshopper
conveyors that are manually articulated into position. Two overland
conveyor belts deliver product to the existing truck dump.
R&S developed electrical and control systems that allow each
conveyor to operate stand-alone, as each conveyor has a starter
and PLC on board. The system design requires only two connections
end-to-end for each grasshopper conveyor, eliminating the need
for a long cable run along the side of the conveyor system.
