In 2001, Roberts & Schaefer Company was awarded a contract
from Southern Illinois Power Cooperative (SIPC) to design and
supply a new coal and limestone handling system integrated into
existing facilities at the Marion Generating Station in Marion,
Illinois.
The project consisted of new coal and limestone unloading hoppers
with a feeder breaker and belt feeder, which feed a new conveyor.
Several existing conveyors were upgraded with new pulleys, drives,
motors, and wipers. A new shuttle conveyor was furnished above
the coal silos. The work was coordinated so as not to cause any
interruption in the plant operations.
