Kansas City Power and Light
Specialized Belt Feeders
La Cygne, Missouri
For Kansas City Power and Light, Roberts & Schaefer added
and retrofitted a blending system including specialized belt feeders
at their existing La Cygne, Missouri facility. To expand the capacity
and physical constraints of the existing system, R&S developed
nine belt feeders, described below. Each unit includes abrasion-resistant
steel lined loading skirts with adjustable rubber seals.
The facility now has a single-speed truck unloading belt feeder,
54-inch, 102 FPM, rated at 1,200 TPH of 2-inch X 0 coal. Twin
72-inch wide belt feeders, rated at 1,200 TPH of 2 inch X 0 coal,
include variable speed drives that allow belt speeds of 10 to
102 FPM and provide a downturn to 120 TPH minimum. Four 54-inch
wide belt feeders, each rated at 1,200 TPH of 2 inch X 0 coal,
also include variable speed drives that allow belt speeds of 10
to 102 FPM and provide a downturn to 120 TPH minimum.
Finally, the variable speed drives on twin 120-inch wide belt
feeders, rated at 600 TPH of 2 inch X 0 coal, allow belt speeds
of 5 to 50 FPM and provide a downturn to 60 TPH. These two feeders
are believed to be the largest ever manufactured in the United
States.
