Granite Rock Company
In-pit Crushing and Conveying System
Aromas, California
For
Granite Rock Company, Roberts & Schaefer provided design and
engineering services for an in-pit mobile crushing station and
overland conveyor system to eliminate haul trucks. R&S produced
conceptual designs and specifications, while Krupp built the mobile
crusher. For ease of maintenance, the system's major components
are off-the-shelf.
The 3,000 TPH system crushes 48-inch run-of-mine granite aggregate
to a nominal -8 inch size using an onboard vibrating grizzly.
An apron feeder takes the material from the dump hopper at an
8-foot elevation and delivers it to the crusher throat at a 24-foot
elevation. The crushing station sits on a box frame that can elevate
to maneuver.
