For Arch of Illinois, Roberts & Schaefer provided engineering,
procurement, and construction services to build a 5.5-mile conveyor
system and truck dump.
The 2,850 TPH capacity conveyor system, operating at 944 FPM,
transports raw coal from Arch's Conant mine to their Captain mine
preparation plant, located near Percy, Illinois. The conveyor
eliminates the need for trucking coal between the mine site and
the plant, producing a significant reduction in operating costs.
For the conveyor system, R&S used existing modules and mobile
transfer stations. The system includes a PLC for overall control.
