Roberts & Schaefer provided complete, detailed
engineering and construction management services to Falkirk /
Coteau Mining Company, to add a remote truck dump hopper and an
overland conveyor system at its North Dakota site, to expand the
mine and reduce costs.
The remote truck dump consists of a 350 ton hopper, a 2,000 TPH
feeder breaker, and a 72 inch wide transfer conveyor. As a cost-reduction
measure, the cable belt was purchased as used equipment, and re-engineered
to meet the application. The belt is 45 inches wide, 20,350 feet
long, travels 850 feet per minute, and carries 1,800 tons of coal
per hour. A 2,000 HP motor drives the belt.
