PT Newmont Nusa Tangarra
Sumbawa, Indonesia
Roberts & Schaefer supplied engineering, supply, and commissioning
services in this two-phase project for PT Newmont Nusa Tangarra
in Sumbawa, Indonesia. For phase one, R&S provided a copper
concentrate shiploader feed conveyor and shiploader, while for
phase two, R&S furnished a 440 TPH coal barge unloading and
stockpiling system.
Fed
by front-end loaders, two variable-speed reclaim feeders feed
the 1,450 TPH, 36-inch wide, 1,417-foot long copper concentrate
conveyor. The conveyor, located in the copper concentrate building,
feeds the shiploader. The shiploader slews through a 285-degree
arc and incorporates a shuttling type boom and conveyor. The boom
can reach from 41 feet to 135 feet from the shiploader pivot and
transports copper concentrate through a telescoping spout. An
onboard operator's cab includes a radio control unit for remote
operation.
The coal barge conveyor includes a 165-foot unloading conveyor
with a hopper fed from a front-end loader located on the floating
dock. The conveyor, which pivots to allow vertical movement with
the tide, feeds a 2,160-foot long stockpiling conveyor with a
stacking tube at the head end. A control panel near the dock operates
the conveyors.
