Automated Coal Loadout and Dumping Facilities

For Dakota Cement, Roberts & Schaefer designed and built
a system to load stoker coal at its mine, two hours by truck from
Rapid City. The facility is completely automated, since it is
designed for use without an attendant. The truck driver performs
all loading operations and receives a loading ticket with no assistance
from plant personnel. The truck then travels to Dakota Cement's
Rapid City facility, where the driver unloads the coal and picks
up a load of cement for the return trip. Roberts & Schaefer
also automated the dumping operation at the Rapid City plant.
