PacifiCorp demand-side services commissioned Roberts & Schaefer
to suggest optimizations to the Ash Grove Cement Company's Leamington,
Utah clinker cooler system. R&S found that the fans in the
clinker cooler system were controlled by outlet dampers, and suggested
improvements that included variable-speed drive fans and control
system modifications.
Once the suggestions were approved, Roberts & Schaefer made
the improvements as part of the PacifiCorp "finanswer"
program, which required verification of optimization impacts by
a third party.
