North Omaha Station
Coal Handling System Upgrade
Omaha Public Power District
Omaha, Nebraska
Roberts & Schaefer was awarded a turnkey contract to upgrade
the coal handling system at the North Omaha Station for the Omaha
Public Power District in Omaha, Nebraska.
The project included a new third rail control system for dumping
rail cars at the rate of 1,500 tons per hour. Several existing
conveyor drives and motors were replaced with larger drives to
handle the increased capacity. These changeouts were tightly coordinated
with the station to avoid plant downtime.
New trippers were furnished for each set of coal bunkers. An
existing rail car thaw shed heater system was replaced and the
complete dust collection system was upgraded.
