Roberts & Schaefer Company understands bituminous GOB is
an inconsistent fossil fuel exhibiting a wide range of material
handling and storage characteristics as its moisture and size
change. The design principles of handling GOB are to accommodate
these flow variations that occur. Such design principles include
transporting GOB in a manner that minimizes dust generation, prevents
buildup and dead storage areas in chute-work and storage facilities.
Bituminous GOB is the rejects material created in a coal benefication
facility. Roberts & Schaefer Company has designed and built
over 500 coal benefication plants and related facilities.
Our bituminous GOB handling experience is illustrated by the
succeeding projects in which the fuel contained enough BTU's to
warrant building a power plant.
MORGANTOWN ENERGY PROJECT
Bechtel
Power Corporation
Morgantown, West Virginia
For their Morgantown Energy Project Bechtel chose Roberts & Schaefer
to provide engineering and procurement for processing of bituminous
coal and GOB. R&S engineered the associated silos, electrical,
control, instrumentation, and interfaced with supplied control
systems. In-depth project information
GRANT TOWN PROJECT
Bibb
and Associates
Grant Town, West Virginia
Roberts & Schaefer created a GOB/Limestone preparation and
handling system with vibratory feeders moving 12"x0" GOB via conveyor
to where it is wet screened, crushed and dewatered to 1/4"x0".
Limestone is crushed, dried, pneumatically transported, then combined
with processed GOB as a usable fuel. In-depth
