Santee Cooper – Winyah Station
- Owner: Santee Cooper
- Project: Limestone Handling Coveyors and Silos
- Location: Winyah Generation Station, Georgetown, South Carolina
- Scope: Engineering and Procurement
Project Background
Roberts & Schaefer Company was awarded an engineering and procurement contract from Santee Cooper for the limestone handling conveyors and silos at their Winyah Generating Station in Georgetown, South Carolina.
The limestone handling conveyors are designed to receive limestone from either the 7,000-ton crushed limestone storage pile by a pan conveyor and mobile equipment or the rail–mounted portable emergency reclaim hopper with belt feeder. The reclaimed limestone is conveyed on dual conveyors at 125 TPH each to the limestone preparation building. The two current 370–ton silos are fed by chutework and dual conveyors. When the third silo is added the dual conveyors will be extended and become reversing. The silos discharge currently through reversible weigh feeders with future plans to add rotary plow feeders.
