Project Background
Roberts & Schaefer Company was commissioned by RioTinto to prepare a conceptual pre-feasibility study for the Copler gold processing plant, a grass-roots facility to be located in eastern Turkey.
The scope of the project included development of the conceptual site plant and the preparation of a pre-feasibility level capital cost estimate. The capital cost estimate required an accuracy of 25%. The plant design was based on processing ore in two phases; 4,850 metric tons per day of oxide ore for the first seven years (Phase1); and 5,500 metric tons per day of sulfide ore for the next 13 years (Phase 2).
