Project Background
The existing berth, also designed by Soros Associates, comprises a loading platform with approach trestle, three breasting dolphins and two mooring dolphins for import tankers up to 42,000 DWT. A new berth, landward of the existing, was required for the loading of smaller methanol tankers (up to 6,000 DWT) for distribution of the product to coastal ports. It comprised a loading platform, two breasting dolphins and three mooring dolphins, one of which also serves the older berth. A crash barrier to protect the approach trestle by arresting errant vessels was also designed.
