Project Background
Soros was commissioned to recommend the best location for a loading facility for coal barges along the East Kalimantan coast. After an initial inspection of marine charts in the suggested vicinity of the proposed operation, a boat trip to the area revealed a sandy beach line with the possibility of coral reefs. Recommendations with cost estimates for different types of barge loading facilities were made.
