  • Location: Aromas Pit, Aromas, California
  • Scope: Engineering

Project Background

Roberts & Schaefer provided engineering services to Granite Rock Company to establish an in-pit mobile crushing station and overland conveying system to eliminate the need for haul trucks. The machine sets on a box frame to crush. The crushing stations box frame can elevate off the ground to maneuver on a daily basis.

The crushing station is connected to the overland belt via an articulating conveyor. The system crushes 48” run-of-mine granite aggregate to a nominal 8” size through the use of an onboard vibrating grizzly. The crusher is fed by an apron feeder which takes the material from the dump hopper at 8’ elevation, and delivers it to the crusher throat at 24’ elevation.

The system capacity is 3,000 TPH. Roberts & Schaefer Company produced conceptual designs and specifications. Krupp fabricated the mobile crusher. Major components are off-the-shelf items for ease of maintenance.
