Electricite De France – Rybnik Plant
- Owner: Electricite De France (EDF)
- Project: Relocate/Redesign Coal Tailings Reprocessing Facility
- Location: Rybnik, Poland
- Scope: Design and Engineering
Project Background
In 2003 Separator R&S was contracted by EDF to engineer the relocation and re–design a tailings reprocessing facility for regional electric power plant, located in Rybnik, Poland.
The plant was intended to economically re–process 450MTPH of coal tailings from local coal mine to recover usable coal that could be burned in their CFB’s. The plant was designed around a modular platform to allow moving to another location after the 15M metric tons of tailings were re–processed.
Plant was re–designed to utilize state of the art equipment, including cyclones, vibratory screens, Teeter Bed Separator and centrifugal dryers as well as a cone thickener.
Another engineering task was the creation of a long–range mining plan to efficiently re–deposit the final tailings back at the site including the re–planting of vegetation to meet local ordinances. Plant has been operating continuously since 2004.
