Project Background
Roberts & Schaefer Company was awarded a turnkey contract from Consol, Inc. for engineering, procurement, and construction, of the coal preparation plant addition at Consol, Inc.’s Bailey Coal Preparation Plant in Enon, Pennsylvania. The system was successfully completed and in operation in 1991.
As an addition to the original Bailey Mine complex, initially installed by R&S in 1984, a second-stream raw coal handling system with scalping screens and rotary breakers was provided. The addition made the Bailey coal preparation plant the highest annual production facility in North America. The facility addition was completed within 11 months without shutting down the existing plant operation.
