The industrial mineral potash is the term used for potassium
carbonate and certain other compounds of potassium, all having
a wide range of commercial uses. Potash is produced from water-soluble
potassium compounds, which are frequently found as dry mineral
deposits or brines. These compounds are the most economical to
recover. Among its uses, potassium compounds are used in fertilizers,
soaps and detergents, explosives, glass and water purification.
The mineral borax is used in cleaning compounds, glass, ceramics,
fertilizers, paper and paint. As with many industrial minerals,
their occurrence is often limited to distinct, concentrated locations.
The Searles Lake and Death Valley areas in California are prime
examples, containing millions of tons of brine composed of potash
and borax.

U.S. BORAX
Truck Shop and Truck Wash
Boron, California
US Borax purchased 27 new mine trucks for open pit mining and to expedite removal of overburden created when a major portion of the existing pit collapsed on to the ore body.
