Lignite and Sub-bituminous Coal Handling Systems
The low-grade coal resources of the United States requires special
considerations to maximize coal production and profits. The thick
sub-bituminous coal beds of Wyoming, as well as the thin lignite
fields in Texas and the Dakotas offer unique challenges to coal
producers. Under all circumstances, our goal has been to meet
the specific needs of each coal producer served.
Roberts & Schaefer Company has participated in the development
of facilities to provide high capacity, near-pit, movable, truck
dump and crushing stations to feed overland conveyors.
- We have applied high capacity roll-crusher units to reduce
60" run-of-mine coal to a nominal 4" product for conveying.
- We have incorporated feeder-breaker machines in the system
in order to minimize vertical height requirements.
- We have pioneered the design of stilling sheds over truck
dump stations, trading inefficient dust collection systems for
"Passive Dust Hood" systems.
The projects below best illustrate our experience in this area.
