fossil fuel exhibiting a wide range of material handling and storage
characteristics. Transporting coal must be done in a manner that
minimizes dust, prevents buildup in chute-work or storage facilities,
and provides access for operation and maintenance. Maximum operating

R&S designed, furnished, installed and commissioned a
coal unloading, slot storage, reclaim and batch weigh train loadout
system consisting of a truck dump station with a 535 ton hopper
capable of accepting 240 ton dump trucks with material size of

HARRIS MINE - KOPPERSTON PROJECT

Kopperston, West Virginia
R&S served as the project manager and did the detailed engineering,
permitting and construction management for this $45 million dollar
endeavor. The goal was to create a coal handling system that would
combine coal from two separate production facilities, store and
load unit trains. Initially capacity was specified as 2 MTPY,
